We are celebrating Father’s Day this year by profiling one our many awesome dads here at The Warehouse. Meet Brad Hall, Store Manager at Snells Beach and proud dad to two amazing kids.
I have worked in retail for 23 years in South Africa, Ireland, England and now in New Zealand. I moved here in 2011 and started in The Warehouses 12 week Fast Track Management programme in Hamilton. After I had completed the programme I became Assistant Store Manager at out TeRapa store. In 2012 I moved to our Dargaville store as Store Manager and now I’m Store Manager at Snells Beach and I’m loving it.
I have two great kids that I’m very proud of. My daughter is traveling around the world and volunteering in Nepal and my son has a love of music and gift for playing the guitar, he keeps me entertained. This Father’s Day we will be going out for lunch and surfing if the swell is any good!
It’s key for me to work for a company that is family orientated as I’m a single dad and my children are the most important thing in my life. The culture at The Warehouse is people first, especially when it comes to family. They promote a work life balance and have always been very supportive in this regard. Being a single father does complicate things at times but I would not change it, all it takes is a bit of extra planning. It has been great to be able to adjust my working day to be able to attend some of my son’s school plays and sporting events.
In my role as Store Manager I walk through the store with my leadership team every day to make sure we are driving good standards and that we are focused on the customer in everything we do giving them a great shopping experience. My team brings a great deal of experience with them, we focus on sharing best practice and driving a one team outlook. I always enjoy interacting with the customers and team as people are the backbone of this business. The Warehouse is growing all the time and wants to be a 100 year company. It’s developing great technology to make sure we achieve this goal and give us the edge and help deliver for our customers.
The Warehouse is a great place to work, I love that they care about their people and it is at the forefront of everything they do. There is a lot of opportunity here at The Warehouse for anyone that wants to get ahead and make a career. Start on the shop floor and down the line you can be working as a Store Manager or at Support Office. We are at the forefront of retail in New Zealand and are focused on people first.
