It’s a kiwi Christmas tradition – The Warehouse team grows

Here at The Warehouse, preparation for the festive season starts well before our shelves are stocked with christmas trees and decorations. Our recruitment team begin their search for Christmas temps in September, giving them plenty of time to search for the perfect candidates to assist with the busiest time of year for The Warehouse stores.

While your Christmas lists haven’t been written yet, our Recruiters wrote theirs months ago – They have searched for and found 1,700 people who are as passionate and excited about Christmas as we are!

Our 1,700 Christmas temps have no small task ahead of them. With 98% of New Zealanders shopping at The Warehouse, you could say we are the North Pole of Christmas here in New Zealand, and delivering that magical Christmas feeling to our customers is our top priority.

Our Recruitment team have received over 15,000 applications for 1,700 roles across 93 stores in New Zealand. From the far North to the deep South we’re committed to finding passionate people to join our team.

Group Recruitment Manager for The Warehouse Group tells us about the Christmas temps and the journey they take with The Warehouse: “About a third of our Christmas temps come back year after year to help us out, they’ve got that Christmas spirit we’re looking for. Every year a quarter of them will receive permanent roles with us. Christmas temps have a great opportunity to get some experience at The Warehouse, training, some extra income at an expensive time of year, as well as making a real impact in the lives of people in the community by bringing a bit of Christmas bargain magic to each and every one of our customers.”

Amy Watts started her career as a Christmas temp on checkouts in 1995. “I returned two years later as a checkout operator and supervisor. I’m in my 19th year at The Warehouse now and I’m currently in the national Operations team as the Process & Policy Specialist. I love my job and I love this company!”

Marama Thompson also started her career at The Warehouse as a Christmas temp in the Tokoroa store in 2011. “I have worked in the stockroom, Nightfill and Head 2 Toe and I’m now a Nightfill Team Leader at Tokoroa. I’ve loved my journey here at The Warehouse and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead of me.”

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Our new Christmas team members have joined The Warehouse family and are in-stores to help our customers get that Christmas feeling at the most magical time of the year.
